Course Description:
“Themes from the Gospels and Acts” is an engaging and transformative course that illuminates the life, teachings, and mission of Jesus Christ, as well as the birth and growth of the early Church. Rooted in the Gospel narratives and the Acts of the Apostles, this course takes students on a journey from the baptism and temptations of Jesus, through His call to discipleship and ministry, to the challenges of opposition and the bold witness of the apostles.
Designed to ignite both faith and intellect, the course explores profound themes such as the cost of discipleship, the power of the Holy Spirit, perseverance amid persecution, forgiveness and reconciliation, and the unstoppable spread of the gospel message. Students will not only encounter the passion, compassion, and authority of Christ but will also critically engage with the mission of the Church and its relevance for today’s believers.
Students will be inspired to:
- Deepen their understanding of Jesus’ identity and mission,
- Embrace the call to discipleship with faith and commitment,
- Draw strength from the Holy Spirit in facing life’s challenges, and
- Stand firm in proclaiming the gospel despite opposition.
Interactive learning methods — including role plays, debates, case studies, reflective essays, and dramatizations — will bring the scriptures alive and connect them to real-life contexts of faith, courage, and witness.
Outcome: By the end of this course, students will develop a richer appreciation of Jesus’ ministry, the courage of the early disciples, and the continuing call to live as faithful witnesses of the gospel in today’s world.
